Guide to buying pull handles

by Jimmy Carr

A pull handle is a lever attached to a door used for opening and closing it. They are available in different styles and finishes and work to ensure sufficient grip on various objects. Handles are practically an everyday application. From opening doors to cabinets and drawers, they are essential for functionality. Handles should, therefore, be chosen last after an interior décor to ensure they complement the design of the house. Pull handles are easier to install and more accessible for kids and seniors to open in comparison to other types of handles.

Tips for choosing security pull handles

The choice of industrial pull handles is especially important, as they play a role in security concerns. There are many choices of industrial pull handles that can be sorted by the type of handle a client wants and the type of lock system that they want. The type of pull handle you choose will come down to the level of security that you want from the door.  The following tips will guide you in choosing a secure pull handle

Front door security- Mortise locks are more secure in comparison to other types of locks. Many burglaries are possible due to the ease of kicking the door in with a heavy object or by smashing the lock. A mortise lock offers structural strength, anti-drill features, and a fitted deadbolt for the knob with a heavy-duty technique that prevents the handle from dangling.

The function of the door- Deciding on whether to buy a pull handle or knob comes after deciding the function of the door. Is it for privacy concerns, security concerns or non-locking doors? Doors for privacy and security reasons should be equipped with locking features such as a deadbolt to keep out unwanted trespassers.

Cost of lock- Secure locks can be very expensive as they are harder to break into. However, the expense will be worth it, because if you have the misfortune of a break in, the cost of insurance will be higher than the price of the lock. If you have a secure lock system, it is likely that your insurance premium will be lower. A sturdy lock, while expensive, will deter burglary attempts. Drills may be able to ruin the cylinder, but access to your home will be deterred, leading to the replacement cost of a lock but not your valuables. Pull handles come in different sizes, and longer pull handles are more expensive due to increased usage of materials.
