Top Tips When Choosing Coworking Space

by Jimmy Carr

Coworking space is an arrangement where people that work for different organisations share office space. It is a growing trend among millennials who are not comfortable with the traditional office arrangement or those that work from home. Coworking space is cheaper compared to the standard office space. Besides, it allows you to interact and exchange ideas with people from diverse backgrounds. Below are some tips to help you choose the perfect coworking space.

Location

Look for a conveniently located coworking space. It ensures you have an easy time accessing the premises. Check the availability of taxis and buses in the area. Additionally, the premises should have ample parking and adequate security.

Ambience and Environment

Ideally, the coworking space should have a friendly working environment. Most spaces will have a variety of layouts to suit your needs. For instance, they could have office cubicles for people that prefer to work in privacy. Besides, you will find an open office space that allows you to work alongside other people. If you intend to work as a group, the coworking space will also have a conference facility. Ample lighting, high-quality office chairs, indoor plants and fixtures will help set a working mood. The area should be spacious to allow air circulation and prevent damp conditions.

Available Amenities

Most coworking spaces will have a variety of amenities to improve the comfort of tenants. For instance, they will have a lounge where you can relax and watch TV during breaks. The coworking space will also have water dispensers to keep you hydrated as you work. A spacious kitchen with essential appliances such as a refrigerator and cooker will allow you to make meals at the centre. Some coworking spaces will also provide storage space where you can store your files and documents. Free Wi-Fi is a must-have.

Terms of Use

Inquire about the management's terms of use. For instance:

  • What is their policy regarding noise? In most cases, management will prohibit you from making too much noise in the shared working area.
  • When do the premises close? Some coworking spaces operate 24/7 to ensure people can work throughout the whole day.
  • Are you allowed to invite guests into the facility? It is a vital concern for people who would want their clients to visit them at the facility.
  • Inquire about flexibility. For instance, are you allowed to move to another desk or office? Some people enjoy a change of scenery every once in a while.

When choosing a coworking space, examine its location, ambience, available amenities and the terms of use. As a rule, the management should have a competitive and friendly price structure.
